As Mary’s pregnancy progressed, I often wonder how quiet God was in her prayer. Would he have felt distant to her even as he himself, in the tiny form of his Son, was closer to her than he would ever be to anyone? Or did he favor her with a steady sense of his presence? We cannot say.
