More wisdom from Jeremy Holmes

Impressing Christ on the believer is not a mechanical operation, like imposing the shape of a seal on a blob of wax. Christ does not take possession of the soul the way one would purchase a car, by an exterior transaction. Christ and the believer are persons, and so the sharing of Christ’s life with the believer is a union of persons, a marriage of the bride to the bridegroom.

WHY THE WORD BECAME WORDS

Cur Deus Verba unfolds a systematic theology of Scripture from a single key question: What did God seek to accomplish by making the Bible? The answer requires seeing why the Holy Trinity made anything at all, why the Word became flesh, and finally why the Church needs an inspired text.
