We know we are weighed down by someone who looks scowling, dark, or withdrawn, and we know how much is changed by a person’s smile, a joyful face. We are set free, we feel lighter.

That is how I set the oppressed free: by letting another know by my face that she is loved. When we are aware that we are loved, then what oppressions remain weigh very lightly.
