More wisdom from Hans Urs von Balthasar

Again and again the Rosary has played a role in recent Marian apparitions: Mary has fingered the beads along with those praying the Rosary. Why should this be? So that we should prefer praying to her over praying to Christ or the Father? On the contrary, it is so that we should look at the mysteries of Jesus’ life—and thereby at the mysteries of the trinitarian drama of salvation—from her point of view, according to her memory. Our eyes are bleary and dull: if you will forgive the metaphor, we must put on Mary’s spectacles in order to see accurately.
