Wisdom from Mark Giszczak

What we want is God to take away our suffering, but what he does is enter into it. What we want is to live without suffering, but what we need is to live through it. What we want is an explanation from God, what we need is a relationship with God. What we want is a pill to take away our pain, but what we ultimately need is a story that gives meaning to our pain.

SPIRITUAL SACRIFICE

Just as Job was tried, all of us are tested by suffering. It comes to us in many different forms: grief about the past, pain in the present, and sadness about what might have been. Joined intentionally to the suffering of Christ through prayer, we engage with the most profound Christian teaching about suffering: that it is redemptive.
