Jesus never forced any miracle upon anyone. He never cured anyone who did not seek a cure. He did not forgive the sins of anyone who failed to seek forgiveness. While he applauded great faith, he awarded even the slightest. If you have any question of this, merely reflect upon the dialogue between Jesus and the Father of the possessed boy who struggled to believe that Jesus could heal his son and cried out, ‘I do believe, help my unbelief!’ (Mk 9:20–27).
